SUMMARY:The Great Southeast Pollinator Census
DESCRIPTION:Join our first annual pollinator census hosted by the Juneberry Education Foundation and local partners.  \nWhat is GSEPC?  \nCelebrate the essential role of pollinators in our ecosystem by joining the Great Southeast Pollinator Census (GSEPC). This annual citizen science event offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the protection and understanding of pollinators. By participating\, you will help collect valuable data on pollinator presence\, their plant preferences\, and how different plants are flowering throughout the season.  \nWhy Participate? \nThe GSEPC provides an accessible way for anyone\, regardless of their insect knowledge\, to contribute to pollinator conservation helping to:  \n\nCreate sustainable pollinator habitats by learning about plants that provide nutrition for our pollinators while handling summer droughts and resisting pests. \n\n\nIncrease entomological literacy by transitioning from seeing insects as mere bugs to appreciating their intricate roles and features. \n\n\nGenerate useful data about our pollinator populations by helping to identify trends in pollinator populations and understand how pollinator populations are affected by weather and how honeybees influence native bee populations. \n\nSee the video below to become familiar with how the count works and for more information\, visit their website: https://gsepc.org/.  \n \nSchedule:\n9:00-10:00am   Great Southeast Pollinator Count \n10:00am-12:00pm Open Shoot \nA few notes:\n1. Admission to the Great Southeast Pollinator Count is free\, however we do ask that guests RSVP in advance. \n2. Following the GSEPC\, our Open Shoot is available to book for interested guests. \n3. This event is conducted rain\, snow\, or shine. Please dress accordingly\, as we will be outdoors. \n4. We have lodging on-site and welcome you to stay with us. Check availability here. \nLet Nature Lead® Program  \nThis event is part of our year-round Let nature lead® educational programming designed to inspire communities to develop a nature-first mindset informed by the regenerative agriculture principles and holistic hospitality services practiced at Juneberry Ridge.  \nAbout the Juneberry Education Foundation\nOur foundation was created with the future in mind. The Juneberry Education Foundation (JEF) is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit public charity overseen by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture. Our mission is to inspire farmers to reimagine the agricultural landscape in North Carolina through the study\, research\, and real-world application of regenerative farming. We offer internships\, accredited training\, and hands-on learning to current and future farmers.   \nNondiscrimination Policy\nThe Juneberry Education Foundation is committed to providing a working and learning environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based on an individual’s sex\, sexual orientation\, gender\, gender identity\, gender expression\, genetic information\, age\, ethnic group identification\, race\, ancestry\, national origin\, immigration status\, religion\, color or mental or physical disability or any other basis protected by federal\, state\, local law\, ordinance or regulation.  \nAbout the Great Southeast Pollinator Census \nFounded in 2017 by Becky Griffin with UGA Extension in Georgia\, the GSEPC started as a local project to educate community garden managers and teachers. It has since expanded into a multi-state initiative\, engaging citizens of all ages to observe and record pollinator activity during a two-day event each August.
